Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 November 2026
These terms govern the use of the Flagg app and the getflagg.com website. By creating an account, you accept them, together with our Privacy Policy.
1. The service
Flagg is a social network of expat and traveller communities. Each member joins the community of their country of origin in the city where they live or stay, and can:
- post on their community's Wall (text, photos, tags), like and comment;
- view member profiles and see an approximate distance;
- send a contact request (“Say hello”) with a short note; a private chat only opens if the person accepts;
- suggest a “Coffee break” in a public place;
- use travel mode to discover the community of another city;
- receive notifications and translate a message on demand.
Flagg is a network for mutual help and friendship between fellow nationals; it is not a commercial platform.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old. We delete any account belonging to a minor.
- You must provide accurate information, in particular your date of birth, and use photos that show you.
- One account per person. You may not create an account if we have previously banned you.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for the activity on your account. Tell us at support@getflagg.com about any unauthorised use.
3. Community rules
Flagg is built on kindness and mutual help between fellow nationals. We ask you to:
- respect other members, whatever their origin, beliefs, gender or opinions;
- accept that a member may decline a contact request or stop replying, without insisting;
- always suggest Coffee breaks in a public place, and stay careful the first time you see someone in person;
- post content that is useful to members in the right community.
4. Prohibited content and behaviour
The following are prohibited, among others:
- any content sexualising or endangering minors, any attempt to contact a minor — see our child safety standards; such acts are reported to the authorities;
- nudity, pornography and sexual solicitation;
- harassment, threats, intimidation, sharing other people's private information;
- hateful, discriminatory, racist or antisemitic speech, or incitement to violence;
- impersonation, fake profiles, scams and fraud;
- unsolicited advertising, commercial prospecting, chain messages and spam;
- selling or promoting illegal products, weapons or drugs;
- violent or shocking content, glorification of terrorism;
- infringing other people's rights (copyright, image rights, privacy);
- automated collection of member data, circumventing security measures, and any use of the app other than intended.
5. Reporting, blocking and moderation
- You can report a profile, a post or a comment, and block a member, directly in the app. A blocked member can no longer see you or write to you.
- Our team reviews reports, prioritising those concerning people's safety. Illegal content or content breaching these rules is removed.
- Depending on severity, we may issue a warning, remove content, suspend or permanently delete an account, without notice for serious breaches. Criminal offences may be reported to the competent authorities.
- You can challenge a moderation decision by writing to support@getflagg.com.
- Anyone, even without an account, can report illegal content to safety@getflagg.com.
6. Your content
You remain the owner of the content you post. You grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host it, display it to the members concerned, translate it on demand and adapt it technically (format, size), only for as long as needed to run the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the backup periods described in the Privacy Policy. You warrant that you hold the rights to what you post.
7. Subscriptions
- Signing up and Flagg's core features are free. Additional features may be offered by subscription (for example Flagg+).
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on your phone, at the price shown in the app before purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To cancel: iPhone — Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android — Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Flagg account does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds follow Apple's or Google's rules. By subscribing, you request immediate access to the digital service and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once access begins, as provided by law.
8. Availability and liability
We do our best to keep Flagg running continuously, without being able to guarantee it (maintenance, outages). Members are solely responsible for their content and behaviour, online and when they see each other in person. We act promptly to remove any illegal content reported to us. We are not liable for indirect damage, nor beyond what the law allows; nothing in these terms limits your consumer rights.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete my account) or by email: see the dedicated page. We may suspend or delete an account that does not comply with these terms.
10. Changes
We may change these terms. In case of a significant change, you will be notified in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use Flagg means you accept it.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, please contact us first at contact@getflagg.com to find an amicable solution. As a consumer, you may use a consumer mediator free of charge. Failing agreement, the competent courts are those provided by law, and you keep the benefit of the protective rules of your country of residence.
